The Weather at Brae CrestLiem's Weather Blog
Welcome to The Weather at Brae Crest April Fools Snow A cold layer at 1500 allowed the rain to drop through and lower the temps enough to allow it to snow quite heavily this morning. No accumulation as the surface temp was still 38-40degrees. Yesterday a brief front passed through and gave my weather station its highest average windspeed of 9.5 mph, however this was nothing compared to the 140 winds at Camp Muir, with an 81 mph minimum speed.
Its a Real White Christmas! It has been a heck of a December in Bothell. December gave is a low temperature of 11.5 degrees, which is the lowest temperature I can recall experiencing in the area. Also, winter storm after winter storm left Bothell with 19 inches of total snowfall, with 12-16 inches on the ground!
Most wonderful of all was our White Christmas, which found Seattle with the most snow on the ground for December 25 since 1861. A very small convergence zone is giving us a dose of snow that most of the rest of King County is missing out on. First fall storm of 2008 Fall blew in with a weak but deep low pressure system this week. It was the lowest barometric reading since the super deep low of January 4. At around 4 am, the pressure hit a low of 29.111 (985.69 millibars), a very low pressure by any standard.
The 12 hour view makes it very evident how the wind started after the low passed.
24 hour view:
Month to date really shows how dramatic the low was:
